A new vulnerability was reported in DivX Player, which could be exploited by a remote attacker to overwrite arbitrary files or compromise a vulnerable system. The flaw resides in the processing of Skin (.dps) file names containing directory traversal character sequences, which may allow breaking out of the download directory, and overwriting existing files (i.e ..\..\..\..\windows\notepad.exe).
